84 pages. Original blue paper covers and black paper spine. Words and music for the hymn Someday We'll Understand is printed to verso of preface, thereafter 19 sermons in double column format. The final leaf has the end of sermon 19 and the first paragraph of sermon 20. Presumably the entire sermon 20 was originally bound in, but is now lacking. The rear cover is well attached to the final leaf but probably due to a later application of paste. Paper spine has separated from volume 2 inches from head but remains attached. A closed tear (no loss of paper) runs halfway up the middle of page 45/46. Title page is somewhat grubby and the edges well thumbed. Nevertheless, a very pleasing authentic Moody item, issued the day after he left town. The publisher's preface details the background of this publication. Throughout the month of January 1894, D.L. Moody and Ira Sankey held meetings in Providence Rhode Island. Popular demand called for a "Moody Page" in The Providence News. Wider demand saw those papers soon exhausted and the present publication issued "in recognition of the fact that there is no permanent collection of the latest platform utterances...". Importantly: "To the accuracy and practical completeness of these reports of his spoken words, Mr. Moody has cordially testified and they are here offered to the public as a comprehensive collection of his most recent sermons as actually delivered from the platform." Preface is dated February 1, 1894... the day following Moody's last Providence address. Includes full page ads on covers for Perry Davis' Pain Killer; The News [Providence evening daily]; and Beecham's Pills (vegetable).
