Three volumes, first edition in jacket, each warmly inscribed using his local moniker Ern. The Mountain and the Valley; New York: Henry Holt, 1952. Jacket toned, chipped at extremities (especially at head and foot of spine), and price clipped. Inscribed on front free endpaper. WITH The Cruelest Month; Toronto: McClelland and Stewart, 1963. Front flap of jacket severed but present, chip off upper joint 2 inches up from foot, rubbed at extremities, with spine toned. Crease to front free endpaper; page 234/5 dog-eared. Inscribed on half title. WITH Ox Bells and Fireflies; Toronto / Montreal: McClelland & Stewart, 1968. Jacket lightly soiled, rubbed at extremities, and with a few short closed tears. Inscribed on first front free endpaper. Each volume inscribed to the same person(s): "For - with love, Ern". Throughout the volumes the inscribee has interleaved newspaper articles and clippings relating to the author - numbering 23 in all - as well as the programme for Buckler On Stage (an adaptation of his short stories produced by Barnacle Theatre in 1990), and a few unrelated slips of ephemera including an Alan Eagleson autograph. Jackets will be housed in brodart: a removable archival sleeve.
