Alice's Adventures in Wonderland

Price: $506.25

159 pages, frontispiece and three plates in colour, followed by 16 pages of publisher's ads on (even) cheaper paper - 5 of those pages also feature E.S. Hardy illustrations, the last of which depicts Alice with flamingo and boxing hedgehogs. Somewhat of an Alice anomaly, with the author's name as Louis, and pictorial endpapers depicting a pack of wolves. No specified date of issue; OCLC notes a copy with a 1916 gift inscription. Fair only: soil to cloth (particularly the rear panel); cloth split along upper joint; lacks front free endpaper; rear hinge reinforced with tape; mull visible along front and rear gutter; small chip off lower outer corner of page 97. Interestingly enough, 'Louis Carroll' was one of four pseudonyms originally suggested by Dodgson to his editor Edmund Yates [Donald Thomas' Lewis Carroll : A Biography, via Wikipedia].
