Leaf measuring 5 x 3.2 inches, printed recto: Boston Library Society. Substance of the Rules voted by the Society for regulating the Loan of their Books, &c. Circa 1796. March 16th inked lower left. Typically found as a bookplate in volumes owned by the Society, this example appears not to have been so used. Comparing the examples of similar printings, found by searching "Boston Library Society. Substance of the Rules", we note in our example the lower case title, use of 'set' rather than 'book' in 6th Art., and a five week (vs one month) borrowing time. View More...
